A New Beginning
Two strong and successful Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Trenton – situated just over three miles apart – pooled their resources and efforts to become a newly-established Catholic Academy that will open its doors in September, 2019. St. Aloysius School in Jackson and St. Veronica School in Howell have merged, transitioning into Mother Seton Academy.
Mother Seton Academy has a rich tradition of academic excellence rooted in St. Veronica and St. Aloysius schools. We value the needs and achievements of all our students. Staffed by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection and state / diocesan certified teachers, Mother Seton Academy assists students of varying abilities to flourish. We provide in-class support for math and language arts, an integrated language arts program, advanced math program, a cognetics program, and various other opportunities for academic achievements.
Students with special requirements also benefit from supplemental instruction funded by Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission (MOESC). We provide hands-on activities for our students with technological supports using Smartboards and educational websites.
Mother Seton Academy offers a curriculum which also fosters students' moral and spiritual growth. Students play a vital role in planning and participating in our school liturgical celebrations. The clergy of St. Veronica and St. Aloysius parishes play an active role in the spiritual development of our students both in the classroom and during liturgy.
The extra-curricular activities available to our students show our commitment to educating the whole child. Our sports program sponsors teams in soccer, cross country track, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading. To encourage students in the performing arts, we offer an instrumental music program for cadet and advanced band, upper grade chorus, bringing back liturgical dance, art contests and displays, and both junior and senior drama productions are presented at Mother Seton Academy.
Parental and parish support and involvement play an integral part of Mother Seton Academy. Our administration regularly offers parent awareness workshops to help educate parents and address current issues and concerns, such as, bullying and Internet safety. We have an active and remarkable Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who enthusiastically supports our mission. The School Board meets on a regular basis to help guide and sustain the operation of our school.
